White surrounding Black Oval

The white surrounding the black oval represents new beginnings for the black belt not the end.  Just like the light at the end of the tunnel, which represents freshly fallen snow, you will have to follow in the master's footsteps to seek out the dragon.

Black Oval

The black oval represents the 1st degree black belt, a goal to aim for, not only for the novice in the art but also the advanced brown belt levels.

White Background

The white background is the future of our art, without new students the art will die so it is important to encourage new members to join.

They are the white canvas for us to paint our beautiful art, helping to develop leaders in our society making the world a better place to live in.

This is the motto for the Mark Wilkins Kenpo Karate Academy

Train

Just like a train on a track it has a destination, our destination is Kenpo excellence and we should train with perfection in mind.  As Mr Parker was so fond of saying.

Only Perfect Practice Makes Perfect.

Heart:

   Broken down means we should train with purpose.

H - Health : We should look after ourselves, our members and family and friends, always be there for each   other.

E - Engergy: When we are low, dig in deep.  Inspire others to work harder and work off each others positive energies.

A-Accuracy:   Don't be happy with oh, that's near enough.  If you are constant with targeting it could save your life in a situation just like a pilot landing a plane he has to be accurate.

R-Realism:  Give it your all, don't be content with second best, there is no margin for error when your life is threatened.

T-Tiger;  We all have this creature sleeping inside of us.  Awaken him every time you train otherwise he may be sleeping when we need him most.

The blood red colour is the controlled rage we can apply in a split second if needs must to overcome any assailants.

Spirit

Another tool to aid our training.  You can feel this invisible force that we create when we achieve this higher plain.  Truly electrical

Fist

The fist is striking vertically one of the many ways we strike in Kenpo.  One of our body's natural weapons.  A versatile weapon opened as well as closed.

Lightening

The lightening is a natural weapon of the environment.  It can cause death and destruction.  An awesome force.  We can use this in Kenpo, to strike with lightening speed along with our accuracy using parts of our body's natural weaponry.

Kenpo Karate Academy

This is a positive place to learn and share our skills.  A safe environment for adults, parents and their children to learn in.

Universal Pattern

This is in memory of Senior Grandmaster Ed Parker creator of our art.  The universal pattern also has its own heart which serves martial artists worldwide, who are also inspired by this man who was a genius.
